This client's old railroad tie retaining wall was failing. Several areas had significant rotting and had been "fixed" using 6x6 and 2x6 treated lumber. When an asphalt parking pad was installed above the company did not pitch the pad away from the wall and a heavy rain washed out several areas.

We installed engineered walls using a geogrid material with a 1 ft drain zone and tile to carry excess water to a drain line that runs down to the lake to reinforce against failure. A new catch basin in the parking pad captures runoff and directs it to the drain pipe. A 10 x 2 ft strip of stone and sand slows the runoff and captures large particle pollutants before entering the lake. New plants and low voltage lighting in the terraced wall and around the house completed the project.

TESTIMONIAL

After purchasing a older home on a beautiful lake front lot in Michigan, we decided to have it torn down and build a new one. As the home was completed and the yard work started, we were facing a huge problem with erosion and deterioration coming from the upper driveway level down to the tiered landscape and stairway areas leading down to the house.

We called Kirk Wagner at Upstream Waters Landscaping for his advice and knowledge on our problem. Kirk immediately surveyed the area and came up with a new blueprint of what was needed to stop the erosion and washout due to the heavy rain fall and poor drainage. In short, he and his knowledgeable crew came in and completely replaced all the deteriorating railroad ties, both on the walls and stairwell, along with upper level drainage and blacktopping. Along with rebuilding the surrounding walls, stairwell and driveway, they also took our unsightly above ground propane tank and converted it to a underground tank to compliment the beautiful landscaping which was done after completion of repairs.

Our experience with Mr. Wagner and Upstream Waters Landscape has been a pure and painless pleasure. I would and have highly recommended his service to all friends and family. Thank you Kirk, job well done!!
